Take the Challenge

Take The SEAL Challenge

The SEAL Challenge is a program to help you join the Navy SEAL Teams in the Enlisted ranks. You start by contacting a Navy Recruiter and specify that you want to join the SEAL Challenge Program. Next you take basic Navy medical and aptitude tests and sign a contract with the U.S. Navy to enter the Delayed Entry Program as a SEAL Challenge candidate. Then you physically prepare with the help of a SEAL Mentor to pass the SEAL Physical Screening Test (PST). Next, you report to Navy Recruit Training Command (Boot Camp) in Great Lakes, Illinois. As a SEAL Challenge candidate, you must pass the SEAL PST again by the 6th week of Boot Camp, or you will be dropped from the SEAL Challenge program, released, and reclassified into another Navy career specialty. After completing Boot Camp, you will go to Coronado, CA to start actual BUD/S SEAL training. Remember, BUD/S is not intended to get you in shape – you are expected to arrive in excellent physical condition. The Instructors will constantly increase the intensity and mileage of your training during the six-month program. A second way for a new Navy recruit to enter the SEAL program is to volunteer while you are at Navy Recruit Training Command. You must pass the SEAL PST, and once you have completed Boot Camp you will be given orders to BUD/S. While you will not have had the benefit of physical and mental coaching by a SEAL Mentor, with the proper attitude and strong physical preparation, you too will be on track for BUD/S and becoming a Navy SEAL.
