I spent 5 years in the navy to be a SEAL (didn't
become one), got hurt, got out. Now I go to
school. But the years leading up to the navy.
Start training for SEALs at 15-ish. I did
everything, freezing swims in 64 degree water for
an hour without the aid of a wet suit. Ran, swam,
PT'ed, lifted weights, learned to fight, SCAR's,
learned to shoot better, learned about everything
I could to be a better SEAL should I become one.
Every SEAL I met gave me advice. I met and officer
from one of Dick Marcinko's teams. Sat for an hour
in my backyard talking with him. Joined the navy
at 17... suffered from shin splints, stress
fractures, have a dislocating shoulder, ended up
with a SEAL quest ending case of ITBS at
19...didn't let it stop me for a few more years
until it was obvious it was with me to stay. Hung
out at Little Creek running the O-course for hours
on end, ran up and down the chiefs beach by the
demo pit...Swam VA beach, SCUBA dived Chesapeake
Bay Light House, swam the waters of St. Thomas,
Florida, Gulf of California. Did some cool stuff
with fiber glass EOD boats and Force Protection.
Did 5 years in total as an AO on the Truman. Got
out as an E5, was in charge of lot of people,
mags, and weapons...
