How the NE Patriots saved the NFL

Think about it. No records of consequence had been set in years. The NFL was losing itself in a blurr of lame superbowls and Peyton Manning commercials. For most, the NFL of old was becoming obsolete along with the "No Fear" attitude that went with it. The attitude where players played as hard as they could and the "Wild Man" took top honors. All of this was becoming a distant memory. And then, the New England Patriots brought in a slipping player called Randy Moss. Though largely insignificant, this small move set of a chain reaction that would lead to the most amazing offensive season in the history of the NFL. Suddenly, Sunday's were worth coming home from church early for. Suddenly, even the haters had to watch in aw to see if the Pats could pull it off. Suddenly, there was a purpose and a reason for everything. The Patriots smashed every reg. season opponent that they played and set records that were previously only dreamed of. But then came Superbowl XLII. The most highpowered offense of the NFL was shut down. When one thinks about it, had New England finished this season 19-0, the exact opposite effect would have occured. Football still wouldn't be worth watching because the ultimate record would have been set. No one can surpass perfection. Instead, New England broke all of the "Set" rules and showed evryone that perfection is possible. In the end, everyone must look back on this season and think,"Wow". In the 2007 season, the Patriots saved the NFL from mediocrity and showed everyone that,"Yes, it is possible". At the same time, they didn't haul off with the whole cake. They gave future generations a chance at the shot at perfection, the ultimate record. So in the 2008 season, jump in your cars after church and head home a little early. And the next time you see the Patriots playing, stop and try to find it in yourselves to say thanks. Even if it's in the little place where no one will find out. Because after all, the New England Patriots saved the NFL.
