Norway: New religion class books drop Christian date count

I sometimes wonder what the **** is wrong with my country. The last thing on a long list is that the new schoolbooks (by Cappelen Damm publishers "We in the world"), for new religion classes in elementary schools now will use "before the common era" and "after the common era" instead of "before Christ" and "after Christ".

What is wrong with using "before Christ"/"after Christ"?

IMHO, I think it's unfortunate that people try to hide the meaning of something important because it has a religious background.

Norway has a Christian culture and history and everybody should understand that. However, some people with other religious backgrounds sometimes feel offended by Christian references in Norwegian society. Still, I don't think it should be ok to be so zealous on respecting other religions that people give different treatment and instead attack Christianity.

Views on subject please...

Plus:  If this had been in the USofA, would it have been accepted?

I think all religions and cultures (way of life) should be given equal respect. I myself am not religious, but I feel it's important to respect  each other no matter what labels we give ourselves. In the real world, it's very difficult to please one society without offending the other. It seems to me that humanity would be better off if we just "labeled" ourselves as human beings and nothing else. Lets call this planet earth and nothing else. It seems the only way that will happen is if were invaded my violent, blood thirsty Aliens. Then humans will band together to fight off the martians . Humans tend to forget their differences when everyones ass is on the line.
