why working hard pays off

So this morning i had the second day of my wooden bat tournement. We get to the park and 1st base 2nd base and 3rd base were all submerged in water. We finnaly were let into the park and as we walked into it no one was working on the feilds. Now most tournements already are supposed to have the feilds ready to go before you get there.

So instead of complaining and waiting for the tournement director prep the feilds and take three hours i got up off the bench got a rake and went to work. i went to our dugout to get some help but only got two other players. I then went to the opposing teams dugout and asked them but no one stood up to help so i talked to them for two minites and got 6 of there players.

It took an hour and a half with 9 players but we got the feilds better than they look the day before. so as i was walking out to my car to get my cleats a man who i didn't even know comes up to me and started talking about how much leadership i had and how i took charge and made it work and in the middle of this man talking told me if i ever wanted to go to an academy to give him a call and he would be one of my recomendations. Now ive always wanted to go to the naval academy so i was so happy. He gave my mom his number and told me to call him.

So not only did i get not get closer to getting into the college i want to go to but i got to go to my favorite restuarant and got a new glove.

So thats why working hard and becoming a leader when its not fun and isn't pretty paysoff in the long run.

That's sweet. Idk if you knew this but I want to go 2 the Naval Academy too. My dad knows somebody who talks to kids going from 8th grade into highschool about the Naval Academy and what u have 2 do 2 get into it. That should help and I would give u some info about it if u would need it. I'm going into 8th grade next year so i wouldnt b able 2 give it 2 u until a year from now, but just letting u know.
