I have nothing but respect and admiration for the U.S Armed Forces. However, the NAVY SEALs and their admirable behavior changed my life dramatically. I came from Cuba 5 years ago to be on my own for the first time in my life. I knew about the SEALs through a friend who was planning to go to BUD/S. At the time I didn’t know much about SEALs but I was intrigued by what I had heard about them. I started to find out more and more about the life of a SEAL and I identified myself with their character. I wanted to become one but my immigrant status and my age made impossible this goal. I realized I couldn’t be a NAVY SEAL but that didn’t mean I couldn’t behave like one. Since that moment my attitude changed. I became a driven and determined individual. I committed myself to never give up on my objectives and reach them. I have done and still do my best even on the simplest task. I have become a cool minded individual in the face of obstacles and adapted well to stressful situations. Frankly, I owe all these changes in my personality to the NAVY SEALs and all the things I have learned from them. Recently, I was accepted at a College of Medicine along with only 37 students in my class out of 550 that applied for the 38 seats available. The drive and impetus to fulfill this goal I learned from NAVY SEALs. These lessons will stay with me my whole life and will keep defining me as a successful man. I thank the SEAL community for being such a great example of success through sacrifice and hard work. I also want to thank them for keeping me safe at home. These simple letter of appreciation is not enough to show the gratitude, honor and awe I feel for the U.S NAVY SEALs.
