Training doesn't make you a soldier

I can't stand it when people try to act like they are special or tough just because they 've had some training.  How many black belts do you know that are tougher than the average joe?  Not very many.  How many fellow comrades have you seen in the ranks of special forces that wereshnockie bags?  When it comes down to it, training doesn't make the person; the person is already made and the training just enhances them.  Some people were just born to soldier or born to be leaders while others were not.  Unfortuniately we live in a highly commercialized world today where real men are shut out and fairy boys are recruited, given some training, and then tough to think they are tough.  Rich men just need bodies to fill positions; real rugged men just live cold hard life and don't need or ask for the recognition.   I'll tell you what is tough and adventurious: take your ass to some country far far away and try to blend in and make a new life where they don't even speak your language.  Where the people look at you weird and you get grossed out by the food they eat and irritated by there customs that are so damn different from your own.  You might find the meaning of your existance out there?  If you can't get past the home sickness and find comfort in the loneliness of solitude, then, well you will never be  a true great warrior.  Being a Navy seal, Ranger,  soldier doesn't make you bullet proof.  It just means you had some awesome training.  It doesn't mean that you are envinceable or that you can brake the law and run freely around the world like Jason Bourne with a purse full of passports from all different countries.  There is no special method for loosing tracking dogs while running on foot.  Like I said, these guys are still human.  Let me hear what you have to say. . ..

I agree and disagree. A lot of black belts are tougher than the average joe, but this kid on my baseball team is a black belt and a 4ft 5in kid could beat him up. He always acts like hes tough but anybody could take him.

actually i would like to kindly disagree. what happens if you have had martial arts training all of your life? which i have. for a sixteen year-old, i would say i am more tough than the average joe. and i am a black belt. what if you have had training all of yor life? but i also agree with you statement that says that you arent invincible. i mean, a bullet can stop any human being, sadly it has happened to men of our country, but it can happen. well, in closing, i agree with most of what u r saying

Hi Legionaire!  You are right, some people are born to be soldiers, some leaders and so on.  In life, military or not, no matter what kind and how much training a person goes through in order to accomplish your goals and/or destiny, if a man or woman doesn't have the heart which drives them, well I believe they didn't embrace what they were meant to do and be.  I salute you in being creative and honest, but don't forget to embrace whatever life brings your way, God Bless You!

I agree with a lot you say Legionaire. You cannot tell the mettle of a man until they are in real circumstances. However, I believe that training in martial arts, use of weapons, conditioning and drills, and strategy to potentially make better soldiers.

The reason training is so important?  Well, it has to do with physiology and how the mind works. Correct repitition of an action, be it grappling, kicking, or punching, shooting, and thinking under dire conditions give the candidate the edge over someone who has no training at all. The funny thing is most people no matter how brave cannot do what trained Seals and Rangers do no matter how brave they are because it isn't trained into their system.

As far as people swaggering arrogantly around because they train in Kung Fu and think they are Jason Bourne is concerned. Some people are funny that way.  Maybe they are karate tournament champions or something. Their training is good for the tournament, but for my tax money I want the soldiers who are trained to do combat whether they see themselves as real men or not.

Actually our Armed Forces' Boot Camps have been toughening up civilians and turning them into soldiers for a long, long time...

Some people may be destined to greatness, or just "Man-UP" when faced with what appears to be over-whelming odds, but for the most part our military is comprised of young people who have learned their jobs because they were properly trained by proven professionals.
