I joined the Navy at 18 I'm now 23. I have orders to atttend SEAL Pre-Training in Great Lakes November of this year (08) and class up in Feb. 09. I am currently stationed in Monterey, California at the Naval Postgraduate School. About me...personally... I love my wife, my country, heineken, suffering, smiling, and living in the moment. I like to reflect but only to perfect the present. I live my life by a set of codes that I won't compromise for anything. I only want "impossible" goals in my life and I treasure the look on thier faces when they get accomplished. I'm a simple guy with a complicated life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My wife, laughter, pain, people that make me laugh, beer, friends, long walks on the beach...ect

D-bags, the fleet, negative people, posers, close proximity smokers breath...ect

Reading, writing, working out, hiking with my wife, climbing, gaming...ect

Well thanks for that input man. I really do want to get there as fast as possible. Maybe it is smarter to just head in and let pure tenacity handle it. I have heard from everyone with BUD/s experience that it's just a no quit attitude that get's you through. Thanks for complimenting my state of maturity. I try to act older than my age and not play the stupid game that is so prevalent in my age class. It really ticks me off when somebody doesn't have a plan in life. Or worse, when somone talks about their plan but doesn't execute. Well, I will put all advice that I can to heart, but this decision will defanintaly take some thought. Thanks for your advice, hope to talk soon.

Well, I'm not to sure yet how I want to do this. My two options are: join right of highschool and risk my adolescence and inexperience at a very tough place called BUD/s, or us the Navy's college money to go to school and use that time to train and become more adept and mature. Even though it's not a big diff in time, I've heard people say that there's a huge diff in the success of people who go to BUD/s at 18 right out of highschool and those who wait through college and go at 21 or 22.

I am excited for you and your wife! Sounds like you two are going to do awesome! Wish you the best with everything and "get some" in BUD/s!
