Navy EOD Brats

I just thought I would add this copy of the post I made in the EOD thread. I think it would be helpful information for moms when their husband go through school!

I have not seen a post asking or discussing what it is like to be the child of someone going through EOD school, so I thought I would post a little about my experiences while my dad was going through the school. The best part was the weekend get togethers of all the students and their families. It was a lot of fun to hang out and eat good food and ofcourse play. For the students it seemed like a nice release to blow off steam after some tough training, the wives seemed to enjoying being around others that understood the stress of the training on their spouses and the strain that it appeared to cause on marriages (I remember many couples divorced before it was all said and done), as for us kids family parties are always fun.The little Fair (I suppose you could call it) to rasie money for the families of the Fallen EOD Tech's (I believe it was an education fund) was an amazing little event, lots of fun for the kids. I am not sure part of the training is still up in Indian Head, MD but that was by far one of my favorite duty stations that my Dad went to. The schools were great (when I was up there). Fun field trips, and nice teachers and faculity. I remember Indian Head to be a pretty enchanting enviornment. We would sometimes go into the wooded areas to build little survival forts for fun with my dad when he wasn't busy training. If you are wondering about anything feel free to ask. I hope this posted helped some parents with some ideas or just a kids point of view on the training.Daughter of BUC Dyer
