Trying to be tough too

Hi. i am the mother of a new SEAL. He left several months ago for Little Creek and is now over seas for a few weeks. The part that is the hardest is not knowing exactly where he is and what he is doing. I know it is for his own and others safety. But I still find it kind of a helpless feeling. I am very proud of him and also petrified. My husband and I live in the northwest on a ranch. We have 2 other children that are grown also. I thought this might be a good site for meeting other parents that have children in the military and in the special forces particularly. Happy to hear from any one who wants to discuss being the parent of a military man.

Hey momofseal,

I have a son that is a SWCC and is getting ready to go to Iraq for his second tour there. I know the feelings that you are having.

On his first tour he did manage to call quite often and although he could not talk about what he was doing it was nice just to hear from him and know that he was OK.

I have always looked at is as "No news is good news"

Hang in there and take day by day and before you know it he will be calling you letting you know he is on his way home.

Take care and if I can help in any way just let me know.

Congratulations! I wish to congratulate you both on the fine job you have done in raising two very wonderful sons! We must never forget the commitment they put forth daily on our behalf. But... we must also never forget the sacrifices you both have done for them their whole lives and have helped to shape their dreams. Again, I must commend you! I am a mother to two precious young men who have enlisted in the worlds finest navy and have always dreamed of going into the special ops. This is never easy, but I realize it is their dream, not mine that they will live by, and am proud of them nonetheless! So, it is nice to have others to bounce thoughts, fears, and ideas around with!
