No worries, you're not being mean. Hell that's what everyone tells her "get a life" the thing is she was like that before my dad died. About 4 years ago she got into such a temper tantrum when she found out my sister and I chatted on the phone every Saturday while she was at work. My dad had to give her a talking to like she was a child. She goes into a near coronary when she finds out I'm with my brother and sis in law. It's almost funny to see how much she panics when she can't hear what's being said.  Fun and games aside sometimes you just need to talk to someone or talk out a problem and everyone in the family knows I don't blab, I keep secrets, they can talk to me about anything and I won't tell unless they want me to.

Enjoy your parent free time. Hope you get lots of writing done. 8 days to go right?

Yet more sympathy for you from my end. I know just how you feel. I'm looking forward to the aunt and uncle visiting it's only the 2nd time since 1979 that I'll see them, 1st time was 2007. they are cool people. Only issue is now that my mother knows they and I chat on YM and facebook and email weekly she's in full on paranoid mode. Since she's found out I knew about my sister a year ago I'm pretty much prevented from talking to family and friends without her present.  She's so paranoid about what I know. I've taken to using YM to chat to people these days instead of the phone. And Yes I have been a sneaky devil and I have been having fun playing with the paranoia, I'm a bad girl  But as Meatloaf said "Good girls go to heaven Bad girls go everywhere"

I'm shocked!

How's it going with the parents? My aunt and uncle arrive from England in 16 days. I'm expecting drama rama from my mother, lots of waterworks, huge amounts of manipulating, daily damage control on my part and a month long headache and I still have Christmas shopping to do!

I'm considering taking up drinking margaritas or asking the doctor for prozac, lol

I sympathise with you on the parents. I recall being treated like a child at my own wedding. I think it's most annoying when it gets done in your own home. It's embarassing when you are in public with friends and you get reprimanded for using a swear word and threatened with having your mouth washed out with soap. Or how about when you are cooking and your mother stands over you telling you what to do as if you've never cooked before and this is your first time.
