I would shoot to be able to maintain 30-40 miles per week of hard running before heading to BUD/S. Of course I've never been there but all the research I've read on it suggests that's what you have to do. I'm not sure if I'm going to do more or less than that because I can handle changes in mileage pretty quickly, but my thought is that if you can't handle a week of 40 miles, then you won't be able to make it through BUD/S.
If I don't get a billet to OCS...well I haven't entirely decided yet. Hopefully that won't happen! I could wait it out and apply again in 6 months, or enlist with the SEAL contract, or look into the PJ pipeline in USAF.
Well, 2010 is just around the corner. Have you taken the ASVAB Test, completed a medical screening and can you pass the SEAL Pst with excellerated scores. I'm here to help you get the opportunity of a lifetime!
i used to do a modified version of the warning order a while back, but now i just do my own thing. basically consists of lots of dips, push ups, pull ups, lunges, squats, flutter kicks, sit ups, running and swimming. I mix in weights too, but not nearly as much as i used to. what about u?
Hey man...thanks for stopping by and saying hello. I am also planning on going to BUD/s in 2010...hope to see you there. I'm finishing up my degree and can't wait to be done with it! I see your picture is from 300...you should listen to the soundtrack...pumps me up every time.
I know a lot of beautiful young women...some I "see" at the gym off and on. I do have a friend who is training to be a fitness competitor...the girl can squat 315! I know, because I have spotted her...her sticking that butt out...going low...ya, she is a HOTTIE!
I am walking in the Marathon with a few others from the site. I am currently sidelined with bronchitis and walking pneumonia. I haven't run in 31 years. It's on the agenda once I have recovered here but there won't be enough training time for me to run that Marathon.
I saw on STUD's page that Rob Ord is your SEAL Mentor...you can't go wrong with Rob...he is an amazing man!
This is from Brass Ring Fitness. i think it says it all man!
Weightlifters do not use the program for a runner.
Runners do not use the program for a mountain climber.
Mountain climbers do not use the program for a triathlete.
Triathletes do not use the program for a wrestler.
Which one are you?
I am all of them, and more.
I am a “Warrior Athlete”
Brass Ring Fitness is designed for the Warrior Athlete.
Capable enough to handle any situation.
Strength to move a heavy object or subdue an attacker.
Speed to make the final push at the end of the race.
Power to clear the crevasse.
Stamina and endurance to ascend to the top of the mountain.
Heart to adventurously live life with purpose.
The Warrior Athlete views their training not as simply a separate time of day where they work and sweat, but as a necessary component of life that merges body, mind, and soul.
The Warrior Athlete does not need a room full of expensive equipment, or someone to stand there to push them to their limit. Their training is an extension of their determination to achieve excellence, and when they train, everyone in the gym watches in awe.
Brass Ring Training is based on:
Proven programming that constantly vary exercise and energy production within a specific training objective.
Functional movements that follow the design of the human body.
When I start a full Crossfit program again, I will be adding some heavy lifts. AND a some LSD. I think that that is the way to go. Will I gain strength like a hardcore powerlifting program? No. Will I win a marathon? No. Will I be an animal in all of the above? HELL YES. I think we are both on the right lines man. Keep it up and keep me updated.
I will also point out the obvious reason why I personally hate and avoid LSD: Muscle/Strength decreases.
I have seen that site...it is AWESOME! Those is some great stuff on there...I like the mission profile outline. That is the type of site that gets my crazy, weird self wet...
I didnt mean to come across as anti-Crossfit...I LOVE it an am a HUGE fan! I just am building myself a stronger base before I transfer my workouts to mostly Crossfit.
hey i was checkin out 1stud's page and I noticed tht u r joining the Navy sometime close to January. Wat I hav heard is tht you are supposed to get into the best shape of your life rite before u join the Navy because in tht week or so of boot camp u arent able to train as much as you normally would. so if you were in amazing shape rite b4 joining the Navy, it wouldn't hurt u as much. I'm just saying wat I've heard.
Hell ya, I am pushin some heavy iron. Squats, Deadlifts, and Bench...aw, the Big 3. Good stuff man...work the meat and potatoes, get perfect form, and the pounds will add up. But lift with your head, not your ego.
I saw your PST scores on the forrum side (I think they were yours). Keep it up man. I am a junior, so I have my senior year and (because of my eyes) at least a year of college. If all goes well, I will be enlisting when I am 19-20. Gonna keep lifting heavy, but after High School I am focusing on Crossfit and endurance, with heavy lifts being supplementary. Anyways, STAY HARD!
