Hey again. I LOVE your point of view. I share your point of view. You verbalized or described a lot of my own sentiments. Your comments and insights are right on target. SPECIALLY about the "10's of thousands of American Idols in Iraq, etc..." uncanny how accurate that statement is! And yeah, this site is amazing in so many ways for those of us that are AWARE and CARE. I always read Mark Divine's comments and they never fail to impress me. I personally feel privilaged to be an active participant of this site. Aside from the support and information that matters most, it's incentives are also the opportunity to meet people LIKE YOU and make friends with others that care about the same things as me. I have met a few amazing individuals here who have become good friends. Then there's always the SEALS that I'm so passionate about, that's the icing on the cake. Please stay in touch, I know I will.  TTYS. Marilyn

Hey. Interesting. I never thought about it the way you phrased it (the biggest contradiction) - that is exactly what it is! I don't watch reality TV at all, doesn't interest me. I LOVE the Military channel and watch that every chance I get. My favorite TV show is "The Unit" and it hasn't been on lately, so other than CNBC and CNN, I haven't watched TV in a while. I realize that I am very much into the Military and I'm basically obsessed with Navy SEALS, I'm definitely not the majority, but the lack of interest in something so big in our country and hour history is just something I just don't comprehend.  I will remember your phrase, it's so accurate.  Marilyn

Hi! Hope all is well with you, I'm doing good. I hope you see it soon. Apparently it has not been a "blockbuster". I read a review recently that said that though the movie is very good, very timely and Ryan gave an outstanding performance, people are not interested in seeing movies about the war in Iraq. To say the least, I was so offended that I stopped reading. I guess it's more interesting to stay on top of Britney's mental illnsess and Paris' nightlife - Go figure. It never ceases to baffle me. Anyway, the movie is not about the war, but the aftermath of the war for the soldiers, but maybe even that is not interesting enough for most people. I haven't had a chance to see "No Country For Old Men". Though I have heard from friends that it is an awesome film and yes, intense. I will make an effort to see it. I think Javier Bardem is an amazing actor so that is an incentive to go see it. I will and I will let you know what I think.  Stay in touch! TTYS. Marilyn

Hi again. STOP LOSS is definitely worth seeing if like me, you love the US Military and what it stands for. In my opinion the movie is raw, moving and riveting and makes you think about the soldiers and not the war itself. The movie starts out with a harrowing and gripping combat scene that had me on the edge of my seat.  Then the story begins. Sgt. Brandon King (Ryan Phillipe) returns home to a small Texas town along with his war buddies. He returns home a decorated war hero who wants to resume his civilian life. You experience the soldiers' struggles trying to re-enter civilian life after duty in Iraq. Then he learns that the Army orders him back to duty (thus STOP LOSS.) Of course then he becomes AWOL. The movie is basically about the human consequences of the Military's Stop Loss policy.  The movie does not glorify desertion, but rather the soldiers struggles when he returns home.  STOP LOSS definitely establishes the soldier's sense of duty, patriotism, respect for the Army and its culture. Like I said in my previous message, I simply loved the movie.  I was very surprised to learn that it was not one of the top 5 movies this weekend.  What are Americans thinking?  This is a movie about our time!  Shows you how passionate I am about our armed forces.  I hope you see it and let me know what your thoughts are.  TTYS.  Marilyn

Hi! Thanks for the invite. I hope to get to know you better.  I see you love military films, so do I.  I just saw the new film STOP LOSS this weekend and loved it. It's not a statement about the war, but rather about the soldiers. TTYS.  Marilyn

I must admit I'm now a struggling romantic suspense writer.  I used to be a biochemist.  What are you studying?
