CV-22 Osprey

The CV-22 is a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that is a cross between a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft. It has the speed of an MC-130 and double the unrefueled range of a Pave-Low. The CV-22’s primary SOF mission is to penetrate denied airspace to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply missions.  While the Osprey was primarily purchased by the Marine Corps to replace the Harrier, the Air Force is buying them to be specially modified by AFSOC to replace the Pave-Low for SOF operations. This aircraft also supports Navy SEAL operations as required.
