Pryor says special forces need special attention

Associated Press - July 16, 2008 1:04 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas has joined with Republican Senator Mel Martinez of Florida to form a Senate caucus that will track special forces and the country's dependance on this part of the military. Both senators are on the Armed Services Committee. Pryor says special operations like the Green Beret and Navy Seals are becoming more and more important to the country's defense. He wants to make sure these groups continue to be well trained and equipped. Although Arkansas has no special forces installations, Pryor says Fort Chaffee near Fort Smith and Camp Robinson in North Little Rock can be important training grounds for special forces units.
