January 7, 2020 in Special Operations Forces News

In December 2019, the U.S. Air Force moved enlisted members of Air Force Special Warfare to new Air Force specialty codes to encompass AFSPECWAR operator, enabler and support specialties. The new special warfare career field (IZ) includes pararescue, combat control, special reconnaissance and tactical air control party. The special warfare enabler career field includes airmen who can offer and enable capabilities, such as survival, evasion, resistance and escape specialist for operators and teams that they train and integrate with. As an effort to provide leadership on all special mission support enlisted matters, a special warfare mission support reporting identifier was also created for Airmen. The enterprise includes special tactics officers, TACP officers and combat rescue officer. Special warfare officer AFSCs changes are expected to kick in April 2020.
