Police Chief Quits Over Claims of Training as a Navy SEAL

July 2, 2013
Mark Divine No Comments SEAL News

Robert Kerkorian resigned as Waukegan Police chief yesterday, two months after he was sworn in and three days after he released a public statement acknowledging that he falsely claimed on his 1987 Police Department job application that he had trained as a Navy SEAL.

Military records show he never entered the rigorous specialized training that a Navy official said is considered the key to becoming a SEAL.

Kerkorian admitted he had said he was “involved in military actions which (he) was not”.  In one instance, Kerkorian described to a fellow officer that during his time as a Navy SEAL  he and his squad came under fire during a clandestine foreign reconnaissance mission.

The mayor accepted the resignation of Kerkorian because of the distraction caused by the SEAL controversy, the mayor stated.
