U.S. Raids Target Somali Militant Leader and Libyan Terrorist

October 5, 2013
Mark Divine No Comments SEAL News

A Navy SEAL team targeted a senior leader of the Shabab militant group in a raid on his seaside villa in the Somali town of Baraawe while commandos assisted by the FBI and CIA led an assault in Libya, targeting a senior al Qaeda terrorist on Saturday.

The Somalia raid comes in response to the Nairobi mall attack which the Shabab terrorist group had claimed responsibility.

The SEALs approached from the sea before assaulting the target.  An hour long firefight with the enemy may have resulted in the death of the Shabab militant leader.

The assault in Libya resulted in the capture of a senior al Qaeda official who allegedly planned 1998 embassy attacks in Kenya and Tanzania.
