Petty Officer Second Class Navy SEAL David John Warsen was killed in a helicopter crash northeast of Kandarhar, Afghanistan on August 16, 2012. David died fighting for what he believed in, among his brothers-in-arms. An avid soccer fan, the fallen Navy SEAL will be honored tomorrow at the David Warsen Memorial Classic soccer game in Kentwood, Michigan. The game features Western Michigan University Broncos vs. the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals.
Entry into the game is free, but donations will be accepted with proceeds benefiting the David Warsen Memorial Foundation & the Navy SEAL Foundation.
“Seeing children play and love soccer the way David did would bring a smile to his face,” reads a statement from the foundation’s website. “We know first hand how important this foundation is and David would be delighted to know that we are helping the families of his SEAL brothers. David will never be forgotten in our hearts or in our memories. He is our guiding light to help love and support one another. That is why we have formed the David Warsen Memorial Foundation.”
The game is tomorrow, March 29th, 8p.m. at Pat Patterson Field, 2674 44th St. SE, Kentwood, Michigan.
