We would like to welcome Coach Brad McLeod to the SEALFIT.com editorial team. This is the first of many “Subject Matter Expert” posts from Brad (and others). Brad is a former Navy SEAL and owner of CrossFit Grinder in Atlanta. You may have experienced Brad’s “horse whisperer” style as one of our Kokoro and 20X coaches. He has also been instrumental in coaching our Online Training program for 4 years now.
Brad kicks things off today with a review of the 20X Challenge recently completed with the Southeast Lineman Training Center industrial team. If you have not had the opportunity to experience a 20X event, then this post and an accompanying video (coming soon) will give you some motivation.
Note that we will soon be launching a nationwide SEALFIT Mentor program whereby we will be certifying SEALFIT Mentors to run SEALFIT training and 20X programs and mentor character development in their communities. Stand by for an announcement soon.

EPIC! by Coach McLeod
We were blown away by this past weekend at the SLTC facility in Trenton, Georgia. The bar has been set at a higher level for the next SEALFIT 20X Challenge. If we told you the details – you would not believe us.
Helicopters in the fog, riding in military grade Hummers with a flak jacket wearing driver.
A “real live” drone flying overhead and shooting photographs and videos. The driver of the drone had spent 3 years in Afghanistan flying drones for the military.
But those were just the props…What was wicked cool was to see the transformation starting with 20 athletes and finishing with 18 hardened warriors.
What is the SEALFIT 20X Challenge? It is an event that will prove to you that you are capable of 20 times (20X) more than you think you are capable of.
But don’t mistake the 20X Challenge with your average mud run. This is truly an event that will transform your life and the way your think through the comprehensive training in mental toughness and emotional resiliency. The physical aspect of the day is simply the vehicle to crack you open to get to the soft insides.
This particular day was brutal but extremely rewarding and, yes…even fun. We hit the Lineman with everything in our arsenal, including the full spectrum of team drills and exercises we use at Kokoro. We threw on our heavy rucksacks and hiked deep into boulder strewn Cloudland Canyon.
The day finally ended with 18 mud covered Lineman on one super heavy and super long telephone pole. This was new territory for the SEALFIT team…we had never seen this many athletes under one log at one time. It was…EPIC.
The 20X trainees endured every challenge and stood tall throughout the event. They are changed men and women – and will never look at difficulties through the same eyes. Everything from here on out will be easily accomplished, when compared to the 20X. They have met their limits, and surpassed them.
What will you do to find this quality of “EPIC Challenge” in your life? How can you push yourself to the next level, and learn to allow a teammate to pull you over the line?
Why not find out? Join us at Allentown, PA on May 3rd or Conroe, Texas on June 15th as we will bring the EPIC to those events.
Check out these 20X Challenge tips if you think you’re ready.
