November 24, 2014
Mark Divine No Comments NSWC

Amazing story of triumph over adversity, Marine Capt. Derek Herrera walks to receive a Bronze Star.

Capt. Herrera was shot by sniper in June 14th 2012 while leading a patrol in a remote region of Afghanistan. The bullet struck his spine and he was left paralyzed. This past Saturday he walked using ReWalk technology to receive a Bronze Star. The Bronze Star Medal is the fourth-highest individual military award and the ninth-highest by order of precedence in the US Military. It may be awarded for acts of heroism, acts of merit, or meritorious service in a combat zone*.
