You want to be a Navy SEAL and finish the impossible swim?
You want to be a mother giving birth?
There is a secret. Stop the worry. Stop the second guessing. Stop the feelings.
Laugh. Yes laugh. Find humor in the moment. Search for it. Seize it. Laugh out loud! Say something ridiculous. LOL!
We are laughing at all the wrong things these days. At others. At politicians. At authority. Even at good.
The funniest thing to laugh at is you. Yes, you , yourself. Only you know how funny you are!! LOL
Kick, stroke, kick, stroke, kick stroke……. If you had to think about how many in a 7 mile swim you would quit. Most everyone quits in life. And they quit by laughing at others when they should be laughing at themselves. God gave us humor to humor ourselves and to help others get through their trials.
This can only happen in your 3 foot world. That is in the moment. Your moment to seize… one moment at a time. How often did I say “what the heck am I doing here??” and kept plodding on. Now for weeks, then months, then years at a time. Lots to laugh at. Worry sucks. Worry saps all your energy. Worry steals your individuality…. And personality.
Stay in your 3 foot zone and you can climb any mountain, fingers bleeding… with a smile.

My background is irrelevant as is yours.. but briefly: Grew up in Louisville & St Louis then went to Yale ‘62. Spent 4 years in the Navy..had the great and humbling honor to get into Naval Special Warfare as a member of Navy SEAL (UDT-21). OSS Maritime, NCDU, UDT, and SEALs are all SEALs in most books….recovered some spacecraft… really cool… Spent 30 years in retailing. Again, who we were is irrelevant, just who we are, who we wish we could be, or who we were meant to be…. the latter the most important.
